
Base Station Solution
The Ideasdot-UMART solution incorporates Remote Monitoring, Uninterruptible Power Supply, Close Circuit TV and most importantly Solar/Wind with Generator Hybrid to deliver 24Hr power, security and monitoring to the remotest or isolated BTS.
Power, Temperature, Voltage, Current, Humidity are some of the status that can be checked via remote monitoring miles away at the control centre. Multiple BTS sites can be monitored from one control centre whilst real life feed of the site is also beamed to the control centre.
Power is assured by using alternative energy in the form of solar PV or solar + wind in suitable sites or location. There is a standby generator for 2nd back-up power. The grid or solar/wind is the priority power source whilst the generator is the back-up; In many cases the Grid is priority whilst solar/wind power is the back-up and the generator is the safe back-up;

When GRID is the priority power source, an AVR (automatic voltage regulator) is added incorporated, the AVR has the ability to stabilise voltage going into the Base Cabin via the UPS (internal or external) as shown in the diagram below. The AVR enables the BTS to work for long hours on GRID even when power voltage is too high or too low, it also protects the system and enables the UPS charge longer. This in turn complements a solar/wind powered BTS and in the very unlikely event the diesel generator is needed to power the BTS (in pilot projects in China (picture above) the back-up generator was only used about 10times in 13 months with a GRID ------- > SOLAR/WIND ---------- > DIESEL/LG GENERATOR system installation) this saved diesel costs by about 90% on each Base Station site.

An outdoor AVR is good for regulating Mains voltage from 100V-290V, this protects the load and enables longer periods of grid power without automatic shutdown of UPS and equipment due to wide range voltage fluctuation.
LCPV AND FLAT PANEL POWER PLANTS
Ideasdot as the only company with sole rights to this particular LCPV technology in Nigeria, is deploying several mini-LCPV plants in Abuja and Lagos. Low concentrator PV technology is a step ahead of the conventional flat panels as the concentrator improves on the cells efficiency whilst the tracking technology improves efficiency by 30%. Flat panel sun tracking power plants have also been installed by Ideasdot and its partners in Spain and China, LCPV power plants are been deployed by commercial power providers in USA, Germany, Japan, China and more.
